Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) is a nationally recognized Center of Excellence in the Treatment of Prostate Cancer. Now, any man who has been newly-diagnosed with prostate cancer can speak with one of RCOG’s board-certified radiation oncologists by telephone at no charge, and without even submitting medical records. Just click here to fill out the form on our contact page and an RCOG physician will call to discuss your case with you at no cost or obligation.
Additionally, RCOG offers another service – an Individualized Cure Rate (ICR). When any man newly-diagnosed with prostate cancer is assessing treatment options, physicians often cite overall cure rates. But cure rates are different for different cases of prostate cancer. For example, a man with early-stage disease has a much higher cure rate than a man with a later-stage or more aggressive case. So, how do you go about determining what YOUR chance of cure is for YOUR individual case of cancer?
At RCOG, we have treated over 12,000 men, and we have kept data on every man we have treated over the past 27 years. To calculate YOUR Individual Cure Rate, we compare your pre-treatment prostate cancer medical records with the pre-treatment data of every man we have treated that had the same pre-treatment characteristics as you. We then calculate exactly how many of those men achieved PSA 0.2 ng/ml 10 years after treatment – the strictest possible definition of cure.
We encourage every man who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer to do his own research about the treatment options that will give him the best chance of cure. Talk to other men that have been treated – ask about their experiences. And a great way to start learning about prostate cancer and the treatment options is to read our Q&A section.
